Things are getting better

After our friends came over and explained to Duncan what was happening things started getting better. We gave him the choice whether to eat dinner in the room or go out and he chose to go out. As we walked into the restaurant he kept looking up at me smiling and said, Mama. He's so tiny he sat in a high chair at dinner. In the car on the way home he sang. Thanks so much for the prayers.

Introducing, Duncan James YuHua!

Hi everyone,
We had a fun morning walking through the park with some new friends who live here in Kunming.  Then we went to lunch and had noodles.  We were prepared to leave at 220 pm to meet the guide in the lobby to go to the Civil Affairs office to meet Duncan.  Right as we were walking out the door, the guide called and said that they were now coming to our hotel and to be ready at 3 pm.  They showed up at about 345pm.  The two people from the orphanage handed me a paper with his schedule on it (it really was a form and was for a baby) and they left.  Our guide stayed for a few more minutes to get me to sign some paperwork.  Poor kid.  He has been crying ever since they left.  Thankfully Devereaux has been a huge, huge help in comforting his brother.  The two boys are now sitting on the bed watching tv.  Every few minutes Duncan starts crying again and we assume Devereaux is saying, Don't cry in Chinese and pats his leg.

Duncan is beyond tiny.  I would say he is the size of an eighteen month old.  Our new friends speak Chinese and have graciously offered to come over tonight.  They are going to help us get dinner and will be able to explain some things to Duncan.  We are so very grateful to have met them.

We covet your prayers as Duncan mourns and then makes the transition to our family.

Blessings,

Today (Sunday ) is our last day in Chongqing. We leave this afternoon for Kunming. It will be bittersweet leaving the only place Devereux has known as home but at the same time exciting to think about the exciting new life he has ahead of him as part of The Bailey Bunch!

We have Devereux!

 Wow! What an incredible day!
We have Devereux and he is an awesome kid!

We had been told D was in an orphanage but we learned today that he has been living in a foster home for the last five years with three foster siblings .   The orphanage staff told us that when they started his file for international adoption many months ago, they told him.  They prepared him incredibly well. There were no tears. He told our guide that he was happy to have a family and is excited to go to the US.

They told us he finished second grade and is very smart. He seemed to like the backpack with the toys I brought and quickly figured out how to put together the Lego helicopter.

His prosthesis leg is definitely too big but he does well with it. He gets around better than expected.

We are so incredibly blessed to have Devereux as our son.

Thanks so very much for your prayers

Day 1 in Chongqing

Today was a relaxing day. We went to Walmart to get a few things and checked out the area around our hotel.
Ate crackers in the room for lunch and rested in the afternoon .  For dinner we asked the concierges where the Papa Johns was, expecting him to point us in the right direction. He walked us there and it wasn't that close! After dinner we walked around the mall. Tomorrow we get Devereux about 2pm. Please pray for him during this transition. Blessings.

Attached is a picture of unrefrigerated blue eggs in Walmart.
